James Penn

Dr. Penn is a graduate of Rutgers University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Summa cum laude in Biological Sciences. He went on to obtain his Medical Degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Following graduation, Dr. Penn completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ where he was awarded the program’s highest honor, the Avedis K. Khachadurian award. He later went on to become Chief Medical Resident, during which he received the Best Teaching Attending Award. Following completion of his chief residency, he completed sub-specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was recognized at the Best Teaching Fellow.

He is a current member of multiple professional societies including the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and American College of Gastroenterology. He is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
